SHERLOCK HOLMES

My late grandfather was big into Sherlock Holmes, and, thanks to him and his New Annotated Editions, I am too! Wish we could have discussed the Sacred Texts more. Alas. (His flannel that I wear is the background for this page.) It's a wonderful, comforting, ever-fascinating series, and the delights of the canon itself are reflected and intensified by the century-old fanbase, the wonderful and slightly mind-melting Great Game, and general fan strangeness--- I mean, where else can you find fan-sonnets?

My collection!

When I have time and am not at college I'm going to scan all of the covers

“‘God,’ Sherry said, ‘but I'd rather be hanged than eaten.'
John said, 'I'd be shot.'
Sherry walked farther, gazed theatrically toward the copse of pigs, his face a fluttering stone. He posed grandly, like Henry at the wall. Mockly setentious, he declared, ‘A wet bird never flies at night.’
The back of his hand reached up and touched his forehead, his lips trembling.
John said, ‘Cad.’”

Have read, would like to own:

Really cool reader
Super fun and readable!! Poetry and dentistry!
The Whole Art of Detection, Lyndsay Faye
Pastiche short stories
Dude if you havent read some Faye pastiches you have not lived

Favorite adaptations!

Sherlock Holmes
Panin is the world's best Watson actor IMO. Also Petrenko's Holmes is so oddly charming (AND RELATABLE?? help). Love this show so fun
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson
Solomin is, naturally, the second best Watson actor. And a close second at that! It gets progressively worse but the beginning of the series is so good it makes up for all shortcomings
Sherlock Holmes
The gist of the show is it's about Holmes and Watson when/if they were young and normal. Very fun and silly
